THE TREATMENT

What is a photo facial (IPL)?

A photo facial uses intense pulsed light (IPL), which sends gentle pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin. The light is absorbed by the red and brown pigment behind redness and dark spots, which heats and breaks it up so your body can clear it naturally. The result is more even tone and less visible redness over a short series of sessions.

It is not the same as laser hair removal, even though both use light. A photo facial targets pigment and redness on the skin's surface. Laser hair removal targets the hair follicle at a deeper level. If you are not sure which one is right for your concern, your RN will tell you at your complimentary consultation.

Most photo facial plans are a series of three to five sessions spaced a few weeks apart for the best result. Some people do maintenance sessions a couple of times a year after that.

Sun spots and brown patches

The pigment in sun-damage absorbs the light and breaks up, lifting dark spots over the days after treatment.

Rosacea-related redness

IPL targets the dilated vessels behind rosacea redness and calms overall tone over a series. Most people need maintenance to keep results.

Broken capillaries

Small broken vessels on the nose, cheeks, and chin respond well to IPL, fading over the weeks after treatment.

Uneven skin tone

Freckled patches, blotchy tone, and the general dullness from years of sun exposure improve with a series.

ROSACEA TREATMENT

IPL for rosacea treatment near you

If you are looking for rosacea treatment near you in the San Francisco Bay Area, IPL is one of the most commonly used clinical options. Rosacea causes persistent redness and visible blood vessels, particularly around the nose and cheeks, and IPL targets the dilated vessels behind that redness directly.

IPL does not cure rosacea since it is a chronic condition, but many people see meaningful, lasting improvement after a short series, with maintenance sessions to keep results over time. The flush and redness that can make people self-conscious tend to calm noticeably with treatment.

Your RN will assess your skin at your complimentary consultation and tell you honestly whether IPL is appropriate for your rosacea type and skin tone. Not every case is an ideal candidate, and that honesty is part of what RN-led care means here.

What to expect from rosacea treatment

  • Gradual calming of redness over the series

  • Less visible flushing and broken capillaries

  • Results that last with maintenance sessions

  • RN assessment before any treatment begins

  • Honest guidance if IPL is not right for your skin

SUN DAMAGE & PIGMENTATION

Sun spot removal and photo facial for sun damage

Years of Bay Area sun show up as brown spots, freckled patches, and uneven tone. A photo facial targets that excess pigment and lifts it over the days following treatment. The process works by heating the pigment until it breaks apart, at which point it rises to the surface and flakes away naturally.

You may notice brown spots look darker for a few days after your session before they begin to clear. This is normal and expected. Sun protection after your photo facial is essential, since new sun exposure will create new pigment and undo your results.

IPL also helps with age spots, broken capillaries, and the generalized redness that comes with years of sun and wind exposure.

Photo facial pricing

Photo facials are priced per session, and most people do a series of three to five for the best result. We offer series pricing. At your complimentary consultation, your RN maps out the plan and gives you a clear quote. Starting-from rates are on the price list.

COMPARE

What is the difference between IPL and Laser?

Both use light, but they target different things. A photo facial (IPL) targets redness and pigment on the skin's surface. Laser hair removal targets the hair follicle at a deeper level. They are not interchangeable, and your RN will tell you which is right for your goal.
